Tampa FL Leads The Way

A Realtor.com study lists Tampa as the city that gained the most residents based on a calculation of the ratio of inbound to outbound moves.

Three Florida cities cracked the Realtor.com top 10 list of residents gained. That’s largely due to the state’s strong job creation, no state income tax and lower housing prices, the study says.

Another key to Tampa’s ranking is directly related to New York — the city that lost the most residents. Most of those ex-New Yorkers are moving south to the Sunshine State, the study shows, highlighting Tampa, Miami and Orlando as three primary destinations.

Florida’s statewide dominance in attracting new residents is even stronger with millennials. The state is home to four of the top five destinations for millennials, according to the study.

Here’s a glance at the top five of three studies: cities that gained the most people; cities that lost the most people; and cities gained the most millennials.
